AI Visibility
See whether Google Gemini names your brand, and how your visibility there differs from ChatGPT.
Check Gemini VisibilityGemini is the assistant most tightly coupled to a search index, which makes it the one where classic SEO work carries over furthest. It is also the one whose answers reach people who never opened a chat window, because the same family of models produces the AI Overviews sitting above Google results.

Gemini has the shortest path to a live index of any major assistant, and it shows in the answers. It cites current pages more readily, it reflects recent changes to your site faster, and it is more likely to name a brand that ranks well for the underlying query. If you have invested in SEO and seen none of it show up in ChatGPT, Gemini is where you are most likely to find that work has carried.
This is the trap for teams with good search rankings. Ranking first means your link is in a list. Being named in a generated summary means the model chose to state your name as part of an answer. Those decisions have different inputs. Summaries favour pages that state things plainly and completely: a specific price, a clear list, a direct definition. A page optimised to keep a reader scrolling towards a conversion often makes a poor source, because the fact the model needed is spread across five scroll-depths of narrative.
Counting assistant users understates Gemini badly. AI Overviews put generated answers in front of ordinary Google searchers who have no idea they are reading model output and never chose to use an assistant. For many categories that is a larger audience than every chat interface combined, and the brands named in those summaries absorb attention that used to go to the blue links underneath. A weak Gemini score is therefore not a niche problem.
Because retrieval matters more on this platform, the levers are more concrete and the feedback loop is shorter than on ChatGPT.
The comparison between the two is diagnostic. Visible on Gemini but not ChatGPT usually means you are findable but not yet established: the search index knows you, the model has not absorbed you. That is the normal position for a brand under two or three years old, and it resolves with sustained coverage. The reverse, visible on ChatGPT but not Gemini, is rarer and usually means your current pages are weak even though your reputation is not.
No, though they are correlated more than on any other platform. Ranking puts your link in a list. Being named in a generated answer requires the model to choose your name as part of a sentence, which favours pages that state facts plainly.
They come from the same family of models and behave similarly for our purposes: both generate an answer over retrieved pages rather than returning a ranked list. That is why we treat improvements to one as generally helping the other.
Faster than ChatGPT will, because the path from crawl to retrieval is shorter. Expect days to weeks rather than a model release cycle, assuming the page is crawlable and actually gets indexed.
Google-Extended controls whether your content is used for training and for grounding certain Gemini features. It does not remove you from Search. If you block it, you should expect it to reduce your visibility in exactly the surfaces this page is about, and that is a real trade-off worth making deliberately.
